First hand encounter the floods in Pattaya
I will always remember 9/11 now was the first time i was flooded in Pattaya.
At 01.30 the dogs woke me up barking at something and that something was my furniture downstairs (thank you Buddha that i always stay in a house with bedroom upstairs).
Downstairs the computers was on going and the electric splitter was under 20 cm of water but was still providing power to the computers (do not ask me how).
I figured that if the power had not gone by now it would not hurt me running the 4 meters over to the safety box and it did not.
After I shut down all the powers and put the cables above the flooding line that was now well over 20 CM in doors and maybe 40 CM outdoors there was not much I could do but wait.
At about 0.3.30 the water had reached its top level at 40 CM indoors and I had to make sure it did not reached some of my computers and other electric equipment. After that i went to bed and woke up around 09.00 and when I went downstairs almost all the water was gone.
But my happiness was short lived because around 11.00 the rain made Pattaya flood again and it stayed for about two hours now with brown mud covering everything from shoes to plants.
I had some help to clean my house out and the damage is mostly in the garden i guess with all the soil gone and my washing machine and fridge. Hopefully they can change the circuit or something but if it is the main board my total loss would be around 50 000 THB from this flooding.
Have Pattaya now joined Phuket and Samui with building to many properties and leaving nothing green for the water?
Some simple Advice
Always make sure you live in at least two floor houses
Make sure your all your electric equipment are on the wall or up from the floor
Check for old water mark when you move into the house
Do not cement your garden you will regret it later
Keep flashlights or candles at home at all times
Turn off the main power when the flooding starts
If Possible drive away the motorbike or card to higher ground before the flooding starts
