What happened to Elyas on Koh Chang?

A Swedish man on holiday has died after just arrived to the Island Koh Chang and the Thai police keep it as a closed secret on how he died. But the body was too badly “destroyed” that they had to get dental records and DNA to know if it was really Swedish, Elyas, body they have found. It is over two month now since he disappeared and the family in Thailand knows not much more than they did when he went missing.

The Thai police on Koh Chang are not known for its fast and affective work but are most of the time blinded by corruption and families ties with criminals. I do not have much hope that they are even working on the case but they rather want the thing to end as soon as possible.

The Swedish Embassy or rather all embassies in Thailand do not want to push the Thai police to much in some cases because they are diplomats.

Many cases of death never solved

We had a famous and sadly typical case a few years ago about a guy who wrote a novel about he would be killed by his gambling addicted wife. A few months later it happens and the police just closed the case and said he was just missing. The family in Scotland was not convinced and hired a private detective that after just a day could see that the man had used his cell phone in the wife’s house when she said he been gone for days.

The Thai police finally woke up and raided the house and found out that the wife and her relatives had killed the man, burned and scattered his body in the nearby jungle.

If your friends or family ever go missing or die in Thailand by an accident or unknown causes, please always hire a lawyer or private detective to look into the matter. Write to all the newspapers you can find because when they see that the case can damage Thailand tourists image the case will be solved very fast.

In Thailand silent diplomacy never works in these kinds of cases.

Elyas was 25 years of age and he looked liked this just two month ago if you seen him or have any information on what happen to him you can contact this blog.
