Thai people are lazy! Well do not kill the messenger this is a story based on a article from the Bangkok Post a few month ago.
Cheating in Thailand is ok!
According to a poll from Abac 84.5 % of the Thai people think is ok to cheat in business as long as they make money. So that means that every time you walk in to a Thai restaurant or shop the majority of the Thai owner are there to cheat you.
When you walk in a restaurant you might not get what you order, maybe a smaller dish or lower quality of food then you expected. When you buy food from the street vendor’s maybe they grill a rat instead of yummy pork.
You can see the cheating very clear with overpricing tourists but also Thai are being overpriced if possible. A man got a bar bill on 40 000 THB but when he started to questions it and calling the police it went down 20 000 THB.
Corruption in Thailand is ok!
According to the same poll over 50 percentage think it is ok for government to take their bribes as long as it benefited them. That means that when people keep bribing different government officials nothing will really get better for Thailand. The only people benefiting from this are the people in power.
Government land is being sold under the table, food is sold to the poor at terrible standards, fire trucks in Bangkok are so bad they never made it to the street, the new Bangkok airport runway broke after just a few months and the list can go on how much corruption damage the country.
Land of the selfish!
This recent poll is nothing new according to the writer of the article and he points out that South Korea and Japan have come much further in its development while Thailand is standing still. Thailand has much more national resources and cheap labor then any of these countries.
How can a country move further when everything is about grabbing as much as you can and step on others? Thailand supposes to be a very Buddhist country and foreigners that visit Thailand is always lectured on how to behave. But greed and corruption is nothing that comes from Buddhism is it  the total opposite of true Buddhism.
While leaders from other countries in Asia take their own lives or go on live TV begging for forgiveness, the Thai leaders simple deny everything and blame a corrupt court system.
Jealousy is common
The Thai people buy more luxury cars then Japan does even if Japanese people have higher income, brand bags and other luxury items are a must  in Thailand. It is very important to keep up with your peers in Thailand and be better than everybody else. King Rama VI tried to help Thailand by introducing co operative but Thai never wanted to do work with each other. The rather open their own company next to the old. You can see many examples of this on the roads of Bangkok; you have 10 eye wear shops next to each other with the same price and layout.
Thai spend loads of money on the marriages ceremonies and to send of their sons to become monks for a day or two. They look at the people around them and trying to beat them whatever it cost them.
Be rich whatever the cost!
According to the article the fact that the lottery is sold out every week and the underground lottery is also in big demand is a sign of that the Thai people are just lazy. They want to have a high income and do little work as possible. Marry your Thai daughter to a wealthy man even if it makes her unhappy is a road to be rich for many. Many Thai girls also marry older foreigners with pensions so that they never have to work in their lives again.
According to the Thai government under 200 000 Thais are unemployed in Thailand and that would make America and any western country jealous. The truth is that these are only the people who have put their names in the register to look for new work.
The future for Thailand
Despite The King of Thailand wise words this year were he asked the country to stop fighting internally and think about the country I do not think that will happen.
The Red Shirts already announced a new rally to topple a not properly elected Thai Government just so they can put back a convicted former Prime Minister.
The lack of willing to work for the countries future have already set Thailand to be the only Asian country without 3G, the state run CAT and TOT have no plans for the future and instead of working for the country they are trying to hold back other companies.
Thai people need to stop corrupting their own country and work together for a better future for all of the Thai people.
