Amazing Thailand!
Nothing amaze me this week more than the latest Thai government I read that Commerce Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Mingkwan Saengsuwan wants to patent the full moon party. He gave the reason that he wants to patent this famous festival in order to prevent not to let other countries copy it.
Full Moon Party is held at Koh Paghan, Suratthaini. It will be held very full moon day, it’s the party along the beach where the people can have fun all night long under the full moon light. Anyhow, some people don’t agree with this idea, either do I because not everything can be patented. The expert says the things you can patent must be inventions; literary, scientific and artistic works; performances; or trademarks but full moon party is not fit in any categories, so in other words, the full moon can’t be patented.
One more thing for you to know the minister, full moon party has been occurred to many countries around the world for hundreds years or maybe thousands. Open your mind and understand that “full moon†and “party†are such the normal words that people can use, it’s impossible to be patented.
