The culture clash with Thai women and men from other countries can sometimes be very intense. You add some social background problems, family pressure, age differences and class differences you will have a huge problems.
Even if you mange to learn Thai to some extent it is not even sure your new Thai girlfriend will know the Thai that you speak. Many of the girls you meet in the bars can not even write Thai or understand advance Thai language. Their Thai can for a “normal†Thai person be very rude and simple.
I stumbled in on a website today about a Thai girl and an American man and you can say that their journey is nothing you want to take.
I do not say what the husbands say about the Thai wife is true that is something you need to figure out yourself.
This is Soontaree , from Chiangmai Thailand. She used a US citizen to get in the USA. She married him making believe she wanted a family and a good life owning restaurants of Thai nature. Once she was in the US, She began to be disgusted with her new husband because he was slightly over weight; and began complain of the place they lived in. Her husband had a friend that owned apartments and he made a deal to get one there. Soontaree was happy but later others told her the area they were in was a bad area. She believed them and complained to her husband about it.
These sites are no longer working but you can do a search on the Internet and i am sure Google kept some cash copy of the site. (updated 2009 6 Dec)
