Nakhon Phanom Thailand relaxing ambiance by the Mekong River

Nakhon Phanom is one of the north-eastern provinces of Thailand. To the north-east it borders Khammouan of Laos. The principality is located at the valley of the river Mekong. Beside the Mekong River, the chief dilute resource is the Songkhram River. The well-formed footing of the provincial best kind is expanded by the rugged beauty of jungle covered mountains which lie beyond the Laotian town of Tha Khaek, located on the opposite bank of the river. Nakhon Phanom is renowned as a great place with beautiful scenery and relaxing ambiance by the Mekong River.The name of Nakhon Phanom means “city of mountains”. The province is subdivided into 12 districts which are Mueang Nakhon Phanom, Pla Bak, Tha Uthen, Phon Sawan, Ban Phaeng, That Phanom, Renu Nakhon, Na Kae, Si Songkhram, Na Wa, Na Thom and Wang Yang. The districts are further subdivided into 97 sub districts and 1040 villages.

 

Throughout history, Laotians and masses from poles apart ethnic groups had migrated across the Mekong River. This recurring draft of pilgrimage desolate its spot on the individualistic dialects, customs and cuisine of Nakhon Phanom.

The provincial tree, as altogether as flower, is Fagraea fragrans.

Festivals and places to go:

Bai Si Su Khwan Ceremony and Phu Thai Dance: performed at the fiesta during May and June each year.

Illuminated Boats Procession is organised at the finish of the Buddhist Lent or every November.

Phra That Phanom Fair takes settle every February.
