The “author†we wrote about a few weeks before Mr Harry Nicolaides from Australia got 3 years in prison in Thailand. The book that was published and sold in 7 copies offended His Majesty the King of Thailand.
Harry Nicolaides broke the lese majesty rule in Thailand and wrote about the royal family in Thailand.
Since he lived in Thailand for a long time he should know that you can not do that but still he wrote about it in his book.

Unless I am mistaken , it was pointed out to the author that if he ever returned to Thailand he would risk arrest as a result of the offending paragraph. Som nom nar !

Right everybody has the right to a fair trial and a innocent before proven guilty the point is he know very well he could not do this but he still did. I hope also he be free soon he learned his lesson I am sure.

I’m sorry Katherine, but nobody deserves to live in subhuman conditions for writing a few sentences that most people have never read. I for one will never visit such a barbaric country and I do pray for Harry that he is released….

But maybe he is a bit naive he wrote to the royal house hold and thought they would reply him. He should simple gone to a Thai lawyer or publishing company they could advice him.

Given the fact, that this person knew of the less majeste laws and that he still went ahead and wrote his passage, then he has no one to blame but himself. It is not about a threat to freedom of speech but the law in Thailand is that you cannot defame the Royal Family. Why is that media, authors around the world cannot grasp hold of that fact?
Would these media and authors like it, IF anyone wrote about their own families?
I think NOT!
