The Pattaya local government is trying to make tourists to come to Pattaya with a promotion from 1 May to 31 October. They want to offer free hotel rooms and 50 % in all shops. They are scared people will not book anymore rooms now since we have a economic slow down around the world.
They also thought the ASEAN will bring them good promotion and instead it gave them chaos and mayhem on the streets with feeling tourists as a result.
Nobody we talked to can really explain how the free room will work and the shopping centers in Pattaya always have 50 % in the window.
Most people we talked to do not think it will attract more visitors same as the free visa scheme. What Thailand is not more promotions but a upgrade of its facilities.
Get rid off all the corrupt police officers and politicians and clean up the beaches and we promise you tourists will come back by them self’s. What’s the point having a beach when you get sick swimming in it?
