Five years since the Tsunami in Thailand

Five years since the Tsunami in Thailand

Five years since the Tsunami

Even if Thailand was not worst hit it affected me and probably the foreigners around the world the most because they had the biggest number of death here.

I remember my feeling of helplessness when I saw the pictures from TV and I was worried by all my friends I left behind in Phuket two years earlier.

We got in contact with a journalist working with the CSI in Phuket at that time and they asked us to make a complete register so we could easily track the dead and missing. In record time we created the huge database just in time for the Thai government to let us know that the images of dead people would not be good for Thailand.

We then consecrated in to helping fellow countrymen that needed contact with people in Phuket and we also worked at the emergency phones for 3 days.

I still think about the basement of the beach road of a swim wear shop where I use to go with Thai girls I knew to buy bikinis. That shop was totally flooded that day 5 years ago and since there was no back door they all died.

I met some friends over the years when they came to Bangkok they told me different stories on how they had survived but got bruised buy the waves.

One friend that I never met but spoke on the phone a lot of was a women working for Soi Dog in Phuket she who helped so many died that day, I still keep her phone number in my phone.
