Thailand’s all knowing and vise TAT has spelled out that Thailand is losing tourists because of the Redshirts protests around Bangkok. I talked with some people around Thailand and it is not only Bangkok that looks empty now I think most tourists destinations around Thailand having a hard time.
Many people that never been to Thailand probably opt out because they do not know about the current situation and the finding of new “bombs†everywhere in Bangkok does not help even if nobody gets hurt.
Indian and Russian tourists that come by group are not affected by the turmoil but other Asian countries are easy to cancel especially when the Thai government imposes sanctions on movement.
Tourists are also likely to skip the normal stopover in Bangkok and fly directly to their destinations and maybe cutting the trip a week short.
The Thai New Year is a big holiday for many now but if the Redshirt don’t go home for Thai New Year or leave Bangkok soon these travelers probably will pick another destination for their Easter holidays.
So if this continues and less tourist came to Thailand would a tourist get a cheaper holiday?
So will the TAT advice their members to lower the prices on hotels and tours? Are you kidding take up the prices and leave many rooms empty that’s the best solution.
Will the Thai Air lower their fees for domestic flights to boost domestic tourism in Thailand? No way flying to Singapore will always be cheaper then flying to Phuket.
Will houses and condos become cheaper now? Ha Ha Ha funny funny!
Will the THB become weaker and give me more for my USD? The Thai money is not connected to anything they control it as they want to same as the Chinese do.
