The Thai government is trying to stop people from drinking and driving. They are imposing a very hefty fine and jail time with in 48 hours. If you are a repeat offender you will loose your driver license for good. In Thailand over 12 000 people die each year in road accidents and it is not only the drivers that die many innocent people die as well. The cost of this is around 250 billion THB each year. The Thai government want to stop people from driving drunk and save life’s and money in the safe time.
The problem is
1. The crack downs only last a month.
2. The Thai police take bribes.
3. The Thai police do not dare arrest people with connections so only poor people end up in jail.
4. There is no police officers out in the night time.
5. The culture of drink and driving need to change for a real affect.
They should enforce the laws on helmets much harder as well and stop giving a fine. If you do not have a helmet you do not have a motorbike or something similar.
