It has been Chinese New Year around the world and in Thailand off course we celebrate this as well. We have during the years I lived here start accepting more and more holidays and adding them as official holidays.
Christmas and Halloween is now sure bet for people to request extra holiday and the western New Year 31 of December is already started to grow on people. Then we have the Chinese New year and I would not bee surprised if we start people celebrating Easter with throwing eggs instead of water and powder during the Thai New Year of Songkran that occur in the same day. Valentine is another holiday that the Thais strongly have taken to there hearts and every year the government discovers that people in Thailand that are not married are having sex. The fact that most people sitting in the Thai government went off to a massage palace or home to their second wife on Valentine does not stop them telling other people to having sex when they not married.
I do not mind the Chinese New Year since Chinese people are a big group in Thailand and they helped build this country but when it comes to rain dear walking on Bangkok’s streets that make sad. And this year it actually looked liked Christmas had won a knockout victory over the Chinese New year because I could not see much people wearing Chinese clothing as I saw people wearing red dressed and Santa clothing.
