Some people have posted this on different message boards on the internet. They are trying from what we understand to get information on people that got cheated in Thailand. Do not just send these kind of people all the information you have.
There is many ads like these and they can be
1. Lawyers trying to get more clients.
2. Just wankers want to have fun.
3. Real journalists but you do not know how much they will publish and will this create bigger problems for you in Thailand.
4. Problem fixers, people that make a living by connecting to “high ranking:” officials in Thailand.
If you feel an urge to answer these kind of ads, create a new email account on Gmail that you never use with anything else then answering this kind of ads. If you use your normal email you can easily be traced by Facebook or other social network. The fact that they use well known media as a reference does not mean they actually know them or work for them.
The scam they are referring to, that you get another translation in English then in Thai is very common. Not as scam ( never heard of it) but the fact that many people call them self translators in Thailand and there is no real regulation. Some other stupid people use their new found bar girl as a translation for a million dollar contract instead of talking to a real translator. The only way you can be sure is to use one that you trust/referred by another person or ask the government foreign affairs for an official stamp and check of the document.
If you need help finding a translator in Thailand let us know we can help you.
Here is one of the many messages we found on some Thai forums.
CHEATED IN THAILAND IN ANY SHAPE OR FORM?
We are compiling a dossier of people from anywhere in the world that feel that have been cheated or conned in any way by someone or anyone in Thailand. Have you been caught by or taken advantage of by a dishonest individual, rogue law firm, rogue property company, money brokers or money lenders, fake paperwork, fake titles or any other individual or establishment that has taken advantage of you. Many Europeans are involved in these scams in joint ventures with Thai nationals, which we will be naming names very soon, which will include the names of the Thai and European partners, company names and addresses, communication details, family members involved and deceitful staff, and in some cases the names of some of the devious cohorts they use as brokers come money lenders to deploy their fraudulent activities. DON’T TRUST THEM; THEY ARE PERPETUAL LIARS AND THIEVES!!! We are particularly interested in cases where you have signed paperwork or contracts written in Thai and then it is translated verbally to you in English and it seems to meet all of your stated requirements, so all seems well. But in fact the Thai version is totally different, and you have no idea until it’s too late, you have been conned and cheated, by THESE BAD PEOPLE. If you have had a problem please provides us with the information of the problem, the people and or the companies involved and the date and the amount involved Any other information you might wish to include would be most welcome. And please feel free to forward this info on to anyone you think might be interested in providing some details of a bad experience and please forward your own information to us and we will reply ASAP. When our dossier is complete we will be providing it to the UK newspapers “News Of The World†www.notw.co.uk and “The Sun†www.thesun.co.uk who will syndicate the story afterward. Check them out. Many thanks for reading.
