Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt maybe should relocate to Thailand?
Since the movie The Beach in the year 2000 featuring Leonardio DiCaprio, filmmakers and producers have gotten the shills when ever they heard the name Thailand. If it was not something wrong the way they planted the palms it was the government asking for work permits and fees for this and that. The producers went home to Hollywood with one big quest, to tell everyone never to shoot a movie in Thailand again.
The Thai government went back to the drawing table, billions of THB was being lost in tourist revenue and income from the film companies. After a few years when people had forgotten about The Beach (not to hard) the Thai government formed there own “Movie Board†and there task was to make it smooth as silk for any company to make a film in Thailand again. They also started to promote Thailand as a film destination abroad.
There first success was off course Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason staring Renee Zellweger, Colin Firth and Hugh Grant. Even if Hugh Grant had to run from the girls in a Go Go bar in Soi Cowboy the movie was a success and showed off the nice Thailand beaches and delicious food.
Not many girls in the film was Thai but that did not matter the Thai government had manage to host a film crew without problems.
Even if I think Steven Seagal was before Briget Jonas his move did not get that much impact as Hugh Grant running from some Go o girls. Some other films that were partly made her were Around the World in 80 Days with Jacki Chan and Alexander in 2004.
Few knew that the blockbuster Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith in 2005 was partly filmed here. The Wookiee home world was filmed around on the area around the south Thai island of Krabi. Stealth with Jamie Foxx was partly filmed just a few kilometers away in the same year.
Now they are filming the The Aftermatch in Phuket a joint venture BBC and HBO about the Tsunami. Even if it got some criticism from locals it was quieted down. You must understand that the locals got upset even it produces extra work for them as playing dead?!
Nicolage Cage was so impressed with the reception in Thailand that he wrote a thank you letter to the Oriental Bangkok witch they published on a hole page for 7 days in Bangkok Post. Nicolage Cage were here filming Time to Kill a remake of Bangkok Dangerous.
If the coup we had 2006 not stopped them Sylvester Stalone should be on his way here to make the last Rambo. Ridley Scott, Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe will be in north Thailand filming American Gangster a Heroin Movie.
So why Angelina Jones and Brad Pitt picked India for their movie about David Pearl is for me a mystery. They have gotten closed in a school, got there bodyguard arrested and fined for landing with a Helicopter and not having permit.
Pitt and Angelina Sawadee Krup!
Guide to Bangkok Hotels
This is the first work for Nicolage Cage as film director , isn’t it. I must say Bangkok Dangerous is very great…
